Views sought on Glasgow's Low Emission Zone

Glasgow City Council is asking members of the public and the business community to participate in their Low Emission Zone consultation which is now open.

The consultation is available to view online here online here until 29 March.

To help inform the roll-out of the second phase of Glasgow's LEZ (which includes all vehicles), we are seeking views on various aspects including:

  • Boundary
  • Enforcement dates
  • Temporary local exemptions

A spokesperson from Glasgow City Council said: “Pollution caused by vehicle emissions is largely invisible but very harmful - particularly so for the very young, the elderly and those with existing respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.

“In Glasgow city centre, recorded nitrogen dioxide levels do not meet statutory limits. The main source of this harmful air pollutant is from road traffic and is why Glasgow introduced Scotland's first ever Low Emission Zone at the end of 2018.”
